On 18 January 2022, Ambassador Lazar Comanescu, Secretary General of the Permanent International Secretariat of the BSEC Organization, visited the PABSEC International Secretariat and met with Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General. The PABSEC Secretary General informed his counterpart about the current and future activities of the Assembly, under the PABSEC Russian Presidency. The PABSEC Secretary General emphasized that the Parliamentary Assembly contributes to strengthening the multilateral cooperation within the framework of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation and expressed the interest in organizing joint events, especially related to the celebrations of the 30th Anniversary of the BSEC Organization, in 2022. Ambassador Lazar Comanescu informed the PABSEC Secretary General about the ongoing activities in the BSEC Organization, under the Moldovan BSEC Chairmanship-in-Office, also noting the importance of holding joint events. He invited the PABSEC General Secretariat to take part in the 5th Edition of the Workshop for Young Diplomats from the BSEC Member States, on “Developing Cultural Diplomacy in the Black Sea Region”, which will be held in Thessaloniki, on 21-24March 2022. It was noted that, in the context of the pandemic, the opportunities for the effective participation of the countries of the Wider Black Sea Region, in the activities of both the BSEC and the PABSEC, were restricted. However, there is a hope that the situation improves, and the work returns to its normal flow. The sides agreed to coordinate the work program of the BSEC and the PABSEC, on the occasion of the Coordination Meeting of the Moldovan BSEC Chairmanship-in-Office, which will be held online, on 25 January 2022, with the participation of the BSEC Committee of Senior Officials, the BSEC Related Bodies and the BSEC PERMIS.
