On 22-23 September 2022, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, paid a working visit to Belgrade and had meetings in the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts. The PABSEC Secretary General was accompanied by Ms. Milena Ljubinkovic, Secretary of the PABSEC Economic, Commercial and Financial Affairs Committee. During the meeting with Dr. Vladimir Orlic, PABSEC President, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, the PABSEC Secretary General congratulated him on the election to the high posts and wished him success in his future activities. At the meeting were discussed the PABSEC current and future activities, within the framework of the PABSEC Serbian Presidency, including autumn meetings of the PABSEC Committees and the 60th General Assembly in Serbia, in December 2022. The PABSEC Secretary General also informed about the preparatory work for organizing the events dedicated to the 30th PABSEC Anniversary, in 2023, including the Summit of the Speakers of the BSEC Member States and the Meeting of the Presidents of the Academies of Sciences of the BSEC Member States. Dr. Vladimir Orlić, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, stressed the importance of hosting the 60th PABSEC General Assembly, by the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and pointed out that every parliamentary session is a unique opportunity for dialogue and exchange of views on a wide range of issues. He expressed the hope for the further fruitful and successful cooperation within the PABSEC framework. The Speaker noted the active participation of the Serbian delegation in the PABSEC activities. Mr. Igor Becic, Head of the PABSEC Serbian Delegation and Mr. Srdjan Smiljanic, Secretary General of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, also participated in this meeting. During the meeting with the President of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Academician Vladimir Kostic, were discussed the prospects for developing the cooperation among the national academies of sciences of the countries of the Wider Black Sea Region. The possibilities for strengthening the interaction among the scientists of the BSEC Member States and developing scientific and technical cooperation were also considered. It was underlined that the relations in the scientific field should be enhanced and the role of the forthcoming meeting of the Presidents of the Academies of Sciences of the BSEC Member States. The meeting was also attended by Academician Ljubomir Maksimovic, Vice-President of the Serbian Academy of Arts and Sciences.
