The PABSEC Participation in the Meeting of the BSEC Committee of Senior Officials, 14 December 2023
On 14 December 2023, Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, participated in the Meeting of the BSEC Committee of Senior Officials, which took place at the headquarters of the BSEC Organization in Istanbul. The Meeting was attended by representatives of the BSEC Member States, BSEC Related Bodies, as well as BSEC the observers and sectoral dialogue partners. The Meeting was chaired by Mr. Mehmet Kemal Bozay, representative of the BSEC Turkish Chairmanship-in-Office, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye. The Committee took note of the Report of Ambassador Lazar Comanescu, Secretary General of the BSEC PERMIS, on the activities of the BSEC PERMIS, as well as information on the meetings of the BSEC Working Groups, which took place in the second half of 2023. The Committee discussed the issue of interaction between the BSEC and the EU and took note of the information on the activities of BSEC Related Bodies. Mr. Asaf Hajiyev, PABSEC Secretary General, informed the participants about the results of the 62nd General Assembly, which was held in Kyiv on 15-17 November 2023. He also spoke about the adopted documents and decisions of the General Assembly. He informed the participants about the planned work in the first half of 2024 and emphasized that the Meeting of the Presidents of the Academies of Sciences of the BSEC Member States will be held on 13-14 February, and a Special Meeting of the PABSEC Standing Committee will be held on 23 February. He emphasized the importance of interaction between the BSEC and the PABSEC and expressed hope for continuation of the constructive cooperation. In accordance with the Calendar of Events under the Turkish BSEC Chairmanship-in-Office the Meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs Foreign of the BSEC Member States is scheduled to be held on 15 December 2023. From 1 January 2024, the BSEC Chairmanship-in-Office passes to the Republic of Albania (1 January - 30 June 2024)
